It's pretty decent if you want to run a server, which is what I use it for, but you will be disappointed if you wipe a functional 2010 MBP and install Linux. It probably always will be, since all the client programs are written to different user interface standards. I've been using it for something like 15 years, and it's still pretty clunky as a desktop OS. Eventually there will be too many programs that require 10.14, but that's a while off. Other than "dark mode", I'm not sure what the differences are, and there's nothing that springs out as a "must have". I then put in a NewerTech NuPower 103W Battery, which works fine.įor the OS upgrade - do you need it? I have an MBA with 10.14, and my 2010 MBP is running 10.13. What battery are you using? I had an accredited service centre replace the battery on my 2010 17" MBP, but the new one was dreadful, giving about an hour's life and then suddenly falling to 7%.
